Founded in 2008 by Shane Wierks, SMRE Group is a vertically integrated commercial real estate firm operating across two core platforms: Real Estate Investment and Advisory Services. The firm was established to deploy capital as a principal investor while also providing strategic, asset-level guidance across multiple property types.
Real Estate Investments
SMRE Group operates as a family-owned and operated real estate investment firm, investing both directly and alongside select equity partners through joint ventures and partnership structures. The firm’s investment platform includes a combination of wholly owned assets as well as properties held in strategic partnerships, allowing for flexibility across deal sizes, asset types, and investment strategies.
To date, SMRE Group and its partners own approximately 400,000+ square feet of commercial real estate throughout the New York / New Jersey tri-state area, spanning asset classes that include retail, mixed-use, industrial, and hospitality. The firm’s investment strategy is centered on disciplined acquisitions, active asset management, and long-term value creation.
Advisory Services
SMRE Group’s advisory platform is led by Shane Wierks, who has been involved in the execution of more than $1 billion in closed commercial real estate transactions throughout his career. Drawing on this experience, the firm provides strategic advisory services focused primarily on retail real estate, serving private investors, operators, and institutional ownership groups.
Advisory services include retail leasing advisory, investment advisory, 1031 exchange strategy, and comprehensive asset and market analysis. The firm specializes in identifying market voids, evaluating asset performance, and developing tailored repositioning and value-creation strategies. In response to evolving market dynamics, SMRE Group also advises on franchise growth and development, aligning real estate strategy with scalable expansion models.

Shane Wierks
CEO + FOUNDER
Shane Wierks is the Founder and Principal of SMRE Group, a real estate platform focused on advisory, ownership, and investment across retail and mixed-use commercial assets. With a career spanning more than 800 transactions and aggregate deal volume approaching $1 billion, Shane has built a reputation for combining deep market knowledge with a practical owner’s mindset.
His experience includes representing landlords, developers, private investors, and institutional ownership groups in a wide range of leasing, acquisition, disposition, and repositioning assignments. Over the course of his career, Shane has worked on millions of square feet of commercial real estate, including a significant landlord representation footprint throughout New Jersey and consulting assignments extending beyond the region.
At SMRE Group, Shane’s focus is centered on identifying opportunities, creating value through strategic leasing and operational execution, and building a portfolio designed for long-term performance. His approach blends transaction-level expertise with an ownership perspective, allowing him to evaluate assets not only from a brokerage or advisory standpoint, but from the viewpoint of an investor committed to durable value creation.
In addition to his advisory work, Shane is actively involved in the ownership and oversight of a growing real estate portfolio across the New York and New Jersey tri-state area. The portfolio includes retail, mixed-use, industrial, and hospitality assets, reflecting the firm’s broad investment philosophy and hands-on operating style.
Shane is known for his entrepreneurial approach, strong industry relationships, and ability to identify both on-market and off-market opportunities. He works closely with tenants, landlords, and investors to structure solutions that are strategic, efficient, and aligned with long-term goals.
He is a New Jersey Broker Associate, a New York licensed real estate broker, a member of ICSC, Crexi Award Winner, and has been recognized as a Costar Power Broker in New Jersey for 15 consecutive years.
Ron Wierks
VICE PRESIDENT, FLORIDA DIVISION
He is a seasoned real estate and operating executive with more than four decades of experience leading complex real estate, development, and operating platforms. He has served as President of RLW Real Estate Services since 2000 and President of Warehouse on Earth since 2008, and previously led a publicly traded company, bringing institutional governance, strategic oversight, and operational scale to his organizations. He is a fully licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Florida.
Over the course of his career, he has overseen large-scale acquisitions, renovations, and conversions across retail, commercial, residential, and multifamily assets. His leadership includes managing organizations of more than 1,000 employees, directing over $100 million in construction activity, and stewarding in excess of $1 billion in real estate and operating assets. His experience spans joint ventures, loan restructurings, regulatory and zoning coordination, P&L oversight, and nationwide site selection.
Through Warehouse on Earth, an international import company specializing in multifamily and apartment fit-out products, he has supported large-scale residential developments through the sourcing and deployment of more than $10 million in interior and architectural materials.
He brings decades of operational perspective, disciplined execution, and long-term value creation to the SMRE Group platform.
Madden Corey Wierks
PROPERTY MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATE
He is a first-year college student at Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU), where he is pursuing a degree in Business Management. A recent high school graduate, he has grown up closely observing the real estate industry through his family’s business and has developed a strong interest in real estate ownership, operations, and investment strategy.
From an early age, he has been exposed to the fundamentals of real estate, asset management, and business operations by following and learning from SMRE Group’s leadership. He aspires to join the family business full-time in the future and play an active role in its continued growth.
